## What this page is

The Privacy Policy of Vel Labs, served at `/privacy`, last updated September 2026. It covers
vellabs.in and any Vel Labs research or waitlist pages. It does not cover the Sola app, which will
have its own privacy policy when it launches. Words in square brackets are details still to be
filled in.

## The policy

1. **Who we are.** Vel Labs is a research and product company building personal intelligence. Our
   first product is Sola. "We," "us," or "Vel Labs" means [Vel Labs legal entity name and
   registration], based in Bengaluru, India — the data fiduciary (under Indian law) and data
   controller (under most other laws) for information collected through this website.
2. **What we collect.** Very little, and only what you give us or what your browser sends
   automatically.
   - Waitlist: your email address, and the date you joined.
   - Contact and applications: your name, email, and whatever you write to us; if you apply for a
     role, anything you attach.
   - Analytics: pages visited, approximate location (country/city), device and browser type,
     referring site. We use [analytics provider] and do not collect IP addresses in a form we can
     tie to you.
   - Cookies: only what's needed to remember your preferences on this site. No advertising
     cookies. See section 8.
   - We do not collect voice, conversation, or any Sola-related data through this website.
3. **How we use it.** To email you once when Sola is ready, if you joined the waitlist — and
   nothing else, unless you opt in to more; to reply when you write to us; to consider you for a
   role, if you applied; to understand how people use the site so we can improve it; to keep the
   site secure. We do not use website data to train models.
4. **How we share it.** We do not sell your information. We share it only with service providers
   who help us run the site — hosting, email delivery, analytics — under contracts that limit them
   to working on our behalf (current providers: [list]); with authorities, where the law requires
   it or where we need to protect someone's safety; and with a successor, if Vel Labs is acquired
   or merges — we'll tell you before your data changes hands.
5. **How long we keep it.** Waitlist emails: until Sola launches and we've sent you the note, or
   until you unsubscribe — whichever is first; then deleted within 30 days. Contact messages: 12
   months, then deleted. Applications: 12 months after the role closes, unless you ask us to delete
   sooner. Analytics: aggregated after 14 months; individual records deleted.
6. **Your rights.** Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you; correct
   it; delete it; stop using it for a particular purpose; send you a copy in a portable format.
   Write to [privacy email] and we'll respond within 30 days. You can leave the waitlist anytime
   using the link in any email we send.
7. **Regional rights.**
   - India — Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Vel Labs is a data fiduciary. You may
     withdraw consent, request correction or erasure, and raise a grievance with our Grievance
     Officer (section 10). You may also nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf.
   - EEA and UK — GDPR. Our legal bases are consent (waitlist), legitimate interests (site security
     and analytics), and contract (applications). You may complain to your local supervisory
     authority.
   - California — CCPA/CPRA. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context
     advertising. You have the right to know, delete, correct, and not be discriminated against for
     exercising these rights.
8. **Cookies.** We use strictly necessary cookies (to keep the site working) and, if you accept
   them, analytics cookies. No third-party advertising or tracking cookies. You can change your
   choice anytime from the footer link.
9. **Security.** The site is served over HTTPS. Data is stored with providers that use encryption
   at rest and in transit, and access is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly
   secure; if there's a breach affecting you, we will tell you.

11. **Children.** This site is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect
    information from children. If you think a child has given us their details, tell us and we'll
    delete them.

    work. Their privacy practices are their own.
13. **Changes.** We'll update this page when our practices change and note the date at the top. If
    a change materially affects you, we'll email the addresses on our waitlist.
